Almost posted on Kenneths post but decided would have been rude to change subject so much.
Been looking at this series as an easier introduction to endurance racing, I know some do not like the Green Hell I may be the odd one out, but if anyone interested I intend to run a few of these races that begin March 29 through to November sundays 1:00GMT & 13:00GMT.
Races are mainly 4hrs with an odd 6hr so good for teams of 2 or 3 or solo if your up for it format & cars below, I would like to run the BMW Z4, I have setup I worked on tonight my PB from 8:31 down to 8:14.08, of the 3 GT3 cars I believve the easiest at this track. Merc GT3 & Porsche GT4 are also make a good combo in hell.
Let me know if your interested I intend to run 29 March 4hr solo if necessary unless anyone wants to team up for a few hours of hell at Nords Combined VLN, 9 races total....
Jumping into 12 & 24hrs straight of the bat & a team with little experience just seems a little ambitious to me & I will try anything once.
Cars/Classes GT3 Class: BMW Z4 GT3, Audi R8 GT3, Mercedes-AMG GT3 GT4 Class: Porsche Cayman GT4 CUP Class: Porsche 911 GT3 Cup TCR Class: Audi RS 3 LMS TCR MX5 Class: Global Mazda MX-5 Cup Race Specifications Race Length (Average): 4-6 Hours Team Racing: Enabled but not required Weather: Dynamic Timeslot: SUN 1:00 GMT &13:00 GMT Qualifying Attached: Yes Practice: 10 min Qualifying: 30 min Penalties: Stop and Go =50 Inc and every 20 after
I would probably support this but not drive.
I‘m interested in team racing, because it‘s a lot more fun. 😄 Green Hell sounds good for me and 29th of March 13:00 GMT fits. Although I probably not reach your lap time 😩. My only problem is the car: It is not about the money, but in the SPRA team we drive the Merc GT3 and I would not like it to build experience of a new car again. I drive the Porsche 911 Cup, which is very difficult to drive, the Merc in the SPRA team and of course the ProMazda.
If you could agree with the Merc then I would like to start. Maybe Joel could provide a setup. Seems he is the specialist for setups.👍👍
I've tried the Merc made setups for both but over 6secs a lap slower and so much more inconsistant in Merc despite giving it almost twice the track time of the BMW.
Both were very similar to drive before tyre updates etc and I never had a problem with setups with either but Merc now I cannot get it to turn in reliably or tune bounce out & get any consistency over crests.
Will post my setups & Blaps later today if I can get Merc working or we can find a setup for the Merc I can get consistency with I would be amicable to driving the Merc.
Interesting!
Do you not fancy bringing your wingman David in as a second team Ken you both qualify to join the old Nuts Loose behind the wheel?😀
Louis will setup a practice in one hour at 6pm GMT. It is open for all (see post in the 60+ racing thread)
Ist Race in a GT3 first team/endurance race but we did somehow finish many thanks to Urs for joining and helping to get the car I wrecked past the finish line, not the multi class race I expected but 57 x gt3's.
Tiny loss of IR but an enjoyable experience qualified 43rd with 42nd 4+ seconds faster at 8:05, we were maybe the best of the GT3 virgins, 1st wreck lap one was unavoidable and put us right at the back.
Despite my making several silly errors & Urs getting deliberately punted we got back to 41st thanks to all the rage quits and the other gt3 virgins, will be better prepared for next race, will run a few gt3 races and learn how they do that pit manouvre.
Thanks to Louis for the good result in Qualifying despite all the fast guys. Best Quali laptime was 7:51 on Nürburgring Combined Gesamtstrecke VLN! We had a good experience and I learned again how to do this team racing.
I was wondering too, why there were only GT3 in our split. Is it common in this series?
Anyway it was fun and looking forward for the next race. Maybe we will find an Easter Egg.
Got it now. The last split with multi-class was split 14 with a SOF of 2285. We were in split 16 with a SOF of 1983. To get the split 14 yesterday one member of our team should have an IR of at least 2100.
Nice work guys.
Preparing for the next race in series they run every two weeks sunday 1pm GMT, a few errors in preperation & execution but that was the idea of going for shorter training team races before getting into main events.
If anyone would like to join in or put their own team together to race happy to help or advise as required, 1st team race was an eye opener glad we did not start with a full length feature 12 or 24hrs but they would be my end goal.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing and making mistakes was what first race was about, the important thing learning from our mistakes and trying not to repeat them.
Yesterday was the second race at Nürburgring 4 hrs. We had a better setup for the BMW. Thanks to Louis for improving and investigating the setup. I did the qualifying for this time. With an 8:08.xxx the time was a little better as last time but the strength of field was higher too. This results in P52 in a field out of 58 😫. We are able to survive the start and first lap without any crashes and come to P39 after first lap. Unfortunately at the last lap before the first pit stop and driver change I crashed just before the end of the lap. 😫😫
We had some inconsistencies about activating the only one Fast Repair, but now we setup the team rules who has to change what. All clear now.
In the next stints (every stint 50 minutes) we could collect a lot of experience in team racing. After two repairs of more than 10 minutes and loss of about 20km/h top speed we finished the race at P43.
It is a lot more fun to drive in a team and to vie with team mates for having a good race. It would be great, if we could build a second team of two members and then maybe go to longer endurance events as one team of 4-6 members 60+ 😀
I‘m looking forward to your comments and would be happy, when we could welcome any interested endurance racers.
Urs
We are getting better slowly 4 hours of hell 14th June we started well URS qualified and we started towards the back in 36th, when we noticed we had used the Baseline setup for quali and were stuck with it.
Urs drove great first leg and we were up to 12th place after 7 laps.
My session did not begin well I was getting used to setup and decided to let a faster car by on the inside, no good turn goes unpunished on IR he helpfully sideswiped me as he passed leaving mme to limp back on 3 wheels but no tow.
We were then even closer to the back of the field, running around 10sec a lap slower than normal but we went on to finish with a prettier car than first four races 24th of 56 and Positive IR & SR all round Urs managed a 1.59SR gain.
Overall an improvement but we are still learning, no time for what may have been onwards & upwards to the next race on July 9 for 6 hours of hell we have finished all 5 races to date each time a little better than the last, and only one mistake repeated Urs still has me as a team mate.😂
If anyone interested in endurance lets hear from you it would be good to have a team for the 24hr events.
Actually it was running very well for me today. 14 laps in the green hell and only 5 incidents. This are 212 miles 2310 turns👍 It was not easy to go with the baseline setup after always had a special setup in training. This was my mistake to not loading the setup after entering the race-session. I hope that was the last time, that I made this mistake. But overall I‘m hapoy with our result and it is no reason to be unsatisfied with team mates.
We are one team and we have one goal.
It would be great to have more team members for the longer endurance races. Don‘t worry and try it.
