Who is up for it? Much safer track than Bathurst. I'm thinking we might want to wait a bit to see how the new BOP shakes out on the GT3 cars. I would think we would want to stay in that class. There will be 3 classes racing at Sebring. But we could very well be in a split with only GT3 due to its popularity. Before the Merc the BMW seemed to be the most friendly to drive. Then it became too slow. But now it seems the speed is back.

Looks like they are only allowing the Merc, Audi and Ferrari in GT3.
I would prefer the Merc in the GT3 class. I would not be opposed to the Ford GT 2017 in the GTE class.
I am interested in whatever care is chosen
Now that you mention it I did see the three cars. Too much on my mind today. I think the Merc
Ferrari man myself, but will of course go with the flow!
Worked with the Ferrari some but I think the Merc is the way to go. I'd hate to force someone out or have to buy a car they may not already own. With VRW going pay it is really hard to find a decent Merc set for Sebring. I have been testing with the Bathurst set but I'm sure there are better sets out there. We need to start focusing on this a bit more as it is coming up soon.
Joel, please post when a decision is solid on which car we will be using. I don't mind purchasing a car and I don't own any of the choices and would prefer to buy just one. Once decided upon I will begin to do some practice.
Merc it is. There are some benefits with staying with what we know and the alternative isn't much faster if any.
I am probably showing my age, but every time Joel says Merc, my mind goes here.
Hmm, this is what I think of.
I must admit I think of that chopped and channeled version myself.
I was a big fan of that #21 when Cale Yarborough was driving it. Looks like A J Foyt is at the wheel of that one.
Joel, any luck on finding a setup for Sebring for the Merc? I downloaded one that was a year old from Carlos Oliver's YouTube channel, ran about 15 laps with it. Didn't really suit my driving style.
It is AJ at the wheel. I was always a fan of the #21 Wood Brothers. They were a small outfit ahead of their time.
Won't let me attach a .sto file. Wanted to share a set.
Joel, I am testing a way for us to do this. Click the More button on the top menu and select Setups and try to upload your file to my dropbox. If that is successful you should see it in the download area so users could get it here. The setup folder is restricted to members only. I will send you a private email so I can work on this with you and hopefully figure out the solution.
I got it up there but lost the one that was there before. It first showed up just a notation "upload at xxxx utc. I clicked on that and it shows the right title for the set. But then the other set was gone.
I see both sets, I will remove the one and see if I can rename the other. Got it anyway, now to fine tune if I can. Looks like you somehow created a folder and the .sto file was buried in that. I copied the setup file to the root, deleted the folder and the other file so now only the Sebring one shows.... Thanks Joel! Now to figure the car out and then get tips from you guys from your last race. The link is this one https://www.60plusracing.com/setups
That is supposed to be a pretty good set but I was killing the front tires again. Please try it as many people as possible and give me feedback. I generally like less lock in the differential than 65 but I wanted to post it "as is" and get feed back. Oh, to be honest the ABS was turned off when I got it. I set it to 11 which is the max. It was at 12 which used to be max but it changed in the last update. So maybe they didn't know. Happy practicing. BTW it is supposed to be a day race probably afternoon. So I am testing in our usual race conditions.
I found the same issue with the ABS on the year old Carlos Oliver's setup. Set it back to 11 and was much better. I will run some laps with the set I downloaded from this forum and report back.
I changed the diff lock from 65 down to 30. Picked up a second over my previous best. Tire wear was balanced as well.
