I had assumed maybe wrongly that we were only looking at the endurance races with the Merc i.e. gt classes. I'm for Watkins and would like to start putting some laps together in the Merc if we are sticking with this car. Any setup available please.
We aren't locked in to any specific car. If the group felt we all could do better in a different car that could be an option. We tried other cars before Sebring and felt that the Merc would be the best as far as being familiar to most people.
As to the setup I just ran the Sebring set there and was within a second of my PB with full fuel. You could certainly use it for practice. You might try changine the rear wing to lower settings, i.e try it a 4,3,2 just to see how it feels and what difference it makes for you. Most of the corners here are fast so I would expect lower wing settings to be better.
I just tested the Ferrari 488 GT3 at Watkins Boot. It was a generic set up for all tracks before the last update but drove very nice. Probably a second slower than the Merc at this point. But considering I have no time in it and the set probably as fast or faster than the Merc. I liked the way it rotated in the corners as opposed to the AMG. May be something to think about.
Next event is the Nurburgring 24. Are we up for a 24 hr event? Car choices are the Audi GT3, Kia, Mazda MX5 or the Porsche GT3.
We would definitely need more drivers to commit. I believe it's being run on the combined course.
Anyone else have any thoughts about this event, car choice? Skip this one and wait for Watkins Glen?
I am terrible there. I was thinking the Kia but I tried one session and didn't last a lap. I'd vote to wait for the Glen.
I'm with you Joel, 12 hrs is a long enough day. At least for me it is. I can't seem to get away from the race and relax for a while.
Watkins Glen is just 6 hrs and all of the members know the track well. I vote we skip the "Green Hell" and wait for the Glen.

Many thanks Joel.
What track format are they using for the 6 hours at the Glen?

Sounds Interesting Joel. quite like the Ferrari but whether i'm any good in it that'a another question!
