Joel was thanked today for creating the practice session, and it got me wondering; did he pay for that out-of-pocket?
I know that it's been quite a while since a request was made for donations to the league and i can't help but wonder if funds have run dry to pay for the practice sessions and the 'televised' races. I REALLY don't want any one individual to feel responsible for supporting our racing enjoyment.
So, i have two questions i'd like to ask...
1- How are we sitting in terms of League finances? (I don't care to know exact figures, just would like to know if there's a comfortable buffer for the season).
2- Is it time to put out a request pass the hat among us League members?
I greatly appreciate the time and effort folks put in to keep our League a fun and competitive place to come play. But their time and effort should be the only burden placed on them... not League expenses.
Financially the league is all set for this season. The members contributed $514 last season and this season (Season 5) one member made an unsolicited contribution of $100. We have paid for 2 seasons on RacespotTV totaling $540. We currently have a balance of $74 dollars. If we continue televising 3 events on RaceSpotTV we will need to ask for donations from the members to fund next season.
This wonderful website is a contribution from Bill Lawrence.
Joel and I pay for the race and practice sessions. It is a minimal amount and we both get a discount from iRacing because of the number of sessions we purchase.

Thanks for the update, Mark. It's good to know that the League is currently solvent. : )
I, for one, would not be offended if the weekly practice session was taken care of out the League kitty rather than you or Joel paying for it yourself. Thanks for both of your generosity.
PJ, you're welcome.
At one point I was keeping track of the session costs with the intent of using league funds to pay for our sessions. To be honest it was more work than it was worth and neither Joel or myself mind funding the minimal cost of sessions. Consider it our contribution to the league.
